Is there anything wrong with switching all of Mandriva's lists to
(say) a MailMan instance?

It would change nothing...

As already explained in previous mails, it is not a technical problems,
but a management one: mandriva sysadmins decided to automatically
unsubscribe people without notifications when then trigger too much mail
delivery errors, independently of mailing-list server.

If you want further explanations, feel free to ask them:

Ever considered hosting a ML on zarb.org, and subscribing that to the
cooker ML?

I prefer to fix problems than workarounding them.

You (we) can't fix them... So, then we live with them? and keep on complaining?

IMHO sometimes a workaround is a fix.

Sometimes a workaround wakes people up to apply a real fix.
