I bet they won't. We've been talking about this for years now. Hell, we
didn't even get rid of all OSS drivers yet.

...for KDE apps.

What about GNOME? What about non-KDE apps?

Does KDE 4 do sound adapter hotplugging, per-application default device,
etc?

I still don't think there's anything else out there with a) the scope
and b) the depth of features of Pulse.

I really suggest people try it out - the current Cooker packages are
fine, follow http://pulseaudio.org/wiki/PerfectSetup to set it up -
before jumping to the conclusion that it isn't needed.
