 The repositories I had problems with were Mandriva updates at

 but I also checked another server (http) and it was the same. And you are
 right the file exists in that repository but: 1. it resides in directory
 (path from the root of mandriva mirror) official/updates/LE2005/ 2. its
 name is 'md5sums'. while smart tries to fetch:
 official/updates/LE2005/main_updates/media_info/MD5SUM which doesn't exist
 (just checked that to be sure by ftping to gd.tuwien.ac.at:

 Now continuing, again you are right, file doesn't exist the server returns
 a 404-like error, but the thing is we are using http and the server
 (apache btw) returns a customised 404 response html page(!) so smart
 happily saves it as MD5SUM file (in /var/lib/smart/channels/) and simply
 dies when trying to process it. Just browse to:

 to see for yourself what does it look like.

 Oh, and btw, yes I'm successfully using smart on Mandriva 10.2 (aka
 LE2005) and it rocks :) I rebuilt it from cooker source rpm, and all went
 smoothly :)
